US Retailers Suffer
Monday 3rd March 2008 Retailers in the US are suffering as American customers continue to tighten their belts amidst fears of a recession.
Sales in supermarkets and malls in across America have been slow in January with big names such as Macy’s and Wal-mart showing falling or flat sales figures for the period.
The US has seen a recent rise in fuel and food prices and this coupled with the current credit crisis and risk to the housing market has led to a feeling of unease amongst the citizens of the US.
Retailers are noticing a major decline in the number of luxury items purchased by customers with people choosing to spend their money on necessities and staple products.
