Woman Defeated in Battle against Theft

A Tesco worker who overheard a shopper saying “Battle of Hastings” as she struggled to remember her pin number at the checkout deduced her pin number of 1066 and proceeded to steal £420 from her bank account.
Till operator Jason Ames, 23 kept the woman’s card after the transaction on used it in cash machines as well as to make online purchases through the well-known auction site eBay. Ames was sacked from his post at Tesco and arrested when the victim realised her card was missing and that money had been stolen.
Ames was brought to trail at Aberdare magistrates’ court and pleaded guilty to six charges of theft and trying to buy goods using a stolen credit card. The court heard how he used the card to transfer money to his wife and attempted to pay off a personal debt on an online website.
